Only one night, but nothing to fault it.

Generally satisfactory Didn't read website reviews.

    1. Some noise from adjoining spaces, though not too bad. 2. Lavatory seat wouldn't always stay up!

Hotel was lovely, staf very helpful. Although we booked dinner for 8.45, we did have to wait an hour, but the hotel was very busy.Service was very good and the meal was lovley

Excellent location for shopping and international ferry and tunnel crossings. Also had an extremely relaxed atmosphere. Staff were helpful when needed, but a smile wouldnt hurt anyone!

Room was acceptable but constantly cold. Draught was visible through the swaying of curtains. Bedding was thin, had to wear jumpers to bed and even had to ask for spare blankets to keep warm. An old building with old fixtures and fittings made it vintage looking and charming which was great, but style of rooms could have been updated to a more contempory, liked all round style. Stuck in the 70s, needs updating.

Traditionel English hotel with good modern clean rooms. Easy to find.

    Fabulous

Location fantastic. Lovely sea view from room - looking down on an old architectural building also. Great value for money. Peaceful location, on the Leas. Stayed to attend a wedding reception at the Grand which is pretty much next door. Would recommend this hotel.

Couldn't get anything to eat after breakfast closed.

    Good

The hotel was convenient for me to travel to Dover the next day. Having an executive chauffeur hire service called InStyle Executive Travel, we need somewhere to stay that is reasonable in cost , comfortable and within easy access to Dover.

Disappointed cost did not include breakfast, as many other hotels in the area do provide at the same cost.

    Very good

The staff were charming and answered all the questions asked. I enjoyed the proximity to the sea and the pleasant walks along the Leas. The breakfast was good and there was a fairly wide range of items available.

The evening dinner was very much below standard. The starter crab dish did not taste of crab and had some other products in it. The steak was very good but 90% of the chips were burnt and indigestible. The sweet was not what I had expected from its description on the menu. I was intending to stay another night, but was told that I would have to pay extra charges for a larger room - which I was not prepared to do. This was easily rectified and I stayed at another residence along the Leas.

We only stayed overnight in hotel but were very pleased with service.

    Fabulous

Nice building good location pleasant staff

Bed and pillows were poor - need replacing. Why don't hotels realise that particularly for mature guests this is the most important issue.

Good parking, out of the town, but close by, looks pretty

    Breakfast wasn't that good.

  • 7.4
    Very good

It had a room at a reasonable price for a one night stay. All other hotels had put the price up because British Open Golf was on in next town!

The room was clean but a bit dated, scruffy carpet.

    Very good

We had a meal in the evening and the food was excellent. They also had a very good wine list but a little bit pricey. The location of the hotel was great, just a minuites stroll to the cliff top with the beaches very acccessible, and a nice 10 min stroll into the main town down the Lea'S.

As soon as we got to the hotel we had to pay for out room, without seeing it. After our long journey we wanted some refreshments so went to the bar, this was unmanned so we had to ask at reception for a drink. As there were alot of people checking in we had to wait for nearly half an hour. The bar was not manned throughout the evening so if anyone wanted a drink they had to go and ask at reception. At 11.30pm eventhough there were alot of people in the bar they closed the bar without asking if anyone would like a nightcap.

    Good

    Quiet and clean

Thought the dinner menu was disappointing/sounded old-fashioned. We had been looking forward to a fish menu being so close to the sea, but there was little speciality fish available

  • 9.6
    Exceptional

I cannot really tick any of the above as we only spent one night at the hotel. However, we did feel that we would like to return at some point. The hotel is a real time warp - we loved it. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful. We would highly recommend it.

The only thing we didn't like was the heat in the bedrooms. Perhaps we should come in winter when such a warm room would be welcome!
